Our Story:

Over 50 years ago John and Sidney Maxwell founded a company called The Ski Hut, in Wilton Center, as a way to share their family's  passion for skiing with the community. In 1983 their son, Jack Maxwell changed our name to Outdoor Sports Center, and moved us to 80 Danbury Road in Wilton. The name and location change was part Jack's dream to share his enthusiasm and philosophy; to help grow and nurture respect for the outdoors by using it as our playground. Today, we are still 100% family owned, many of our staff have been with us for 15 years or more, and we are proud to have customers that can recall our "Ski Hut" heritage.

Our commitment remains to promote a friendly and knowledgeable community, to provide only the best gear and service, and to always promote awareness of outdoor resources through their use as a playground.

2015 Road Bikes

A new season of riding is starting, and we have the best bikes to get you going this season! Here are our two favorite road bikes that are brand new models for 2015, followed by four of our all-time favorite models.

Trail Running

Winter 2015 was the coldest we've had in years, but March is bringing warmer temperatures and melting the snow away. Warm weather means it's time to say goodbye to the treadmill and hello to running outside! We recommend trail running this season to breathe in the fresh air and stretch your legs. Trail running has tons of advantages over running on the road, such as lower impact on your joints and a more serene environment. Here at Outdoor Sports Center we have all the gear you need, including a fantastic assortment of new trail running shoes for 2015! For those of you who are new to trail running, we've compiled a few tips to get you started safely and to help you get the most out of your run.

Staff Ski Day at Mohawk Mountain

On March 11th, we closed the store and headed up to the mountain for a staff ski day! This was the first time in the store's history that we closed for reasons other than weather, and it was such an amazing opportunity to all be able to hit the slopes together! We had a delicious barbeque lunch on the deck, and several of our brand representatives came to hang out and let us test the new equipment. The conditions could not have been better; with temperatures reaching nearly 60 degrees we were able to ski in our sweatshirts and never had to worry about going inside to warm up. The snow was nice and soft, and many of us were able to make the first tracks of the day! This has been an excellent winter for snow sports, and there was no better way to say goodbye to winter than with a ski day like this.
