Our Story:

Over 50 years ago John and Sidney Maxwell founded a company called The Ski Hut, in Wilton Center, as a way to share their family's  passion for skiing with the community. In 1983 their son, Jack Maxwell changed our name to Outdoor Sports Center, and moved us to 80 Danbury Road in Wilton. The name and location change was part Jack's dream to share his enthusiasm and philosophy; to help grow and nurture respect for the outdoors by using it as our playground. Today, we are still 100% family owned, many of our staff have been with us for 15 years or more, and we are proud to have customers that can recall our "Ski Hut" heritage.

Our commitment remains to promote a friendly and knowledgeable community, to provide only the best gear and service, and to always promote awareness of outdoor resources through their use as a playground.

Full Service Bike Workshop

02/01/2017

Outdoor Sports Center has a very experienced and professional workshop staff. Whether you need a tube and tire change or a complete custom build for your next race, at our bike workshop you are always in good hands. We offer competetive pricing on skilled service for any bike. We have more bike mechanics and technicians than most bike shops, so we are able to give our customers the best possible service in the shortest amount of time. Minor repairs or tube and tire changes can be performed on the spot and the turn around on a tune-up can be as short as same day. We are proud to have not one but two Certified Elite Mechanics from the Barnett Bicycle Institute. They are the only two Certified Elite Mechanics in the state of Connecticut, so you can be sure that the level of expertise you are getting is the best available. We are as passionate about riding as our dedicated customers, so we work hard to get you out riding again as soon as possible.

Local Hiking Spots

08/01/2016

We are lucky to live in a part of the country where beautiful hiking trails abound, and even luckier to have endless options right in our own little corner of Connecticut. There are many hiking trails that cater to those of you who want to spend a full day out in the woods, conquering new terrain and never passing the same rock twice. On the contrary, if you are a new hiker or you want to introduce the activity to your young children, there is no shortage of local trails that will fit your needs. We've put together a guide to some of our favorite nearby hiking spots based on the ease of the hike and size of the park. In addition, we compiled a list of must-have items for each one so you can stay safe and comfortable on the trail. Don't forget: a good sturdy pair of hiking boots or trail shoes is your number one piece of gear!
